Weak competition = high profit
With my reintroduction to online poker I went as far up at $115 and as far down as $6. The $115 was last night, the $6 this morning, and now I’m sitting pretty at $69. As I said earlier I played a $5 sit and go and made $50 early, then had a nice run in the $1.00/$2.00 and $0.50/$1.00 limit games. Then I decided to play s ome $0.25/$0.50 NL … and that might’ve been a mistake. I bought into 4 tables with a total of $100 dollars and left with $30. I played a few turbo tournaments (which I found don’t suit my style at all) and was down to $6. I decided to return to what I knew I was decent at, heads up sit n gos, and entered into a 4-person $5 game.
The first game was easier than I expected. Since the $5 heads up is the lowest on the totem pole it has the worst players, people just starting their heads up careers. They slowplay things way too far (letting me catch up with 2 pair on the river and what not) and play too tight or too loose. Most don’t seem to have a good idea for what constitutes as good heads up strategy and most are easy money.
I’ve won 4 of the last 5 4-player matches I’ve played and ran the $6 to $69 and think I might stick around thie $5 heads up sng. In several of the games I would be dealt AK early and raise, only to be reraised by my opponents. Instead of trying to play ‘real’ poker with these people I usually just push all in for my starting $1500 at this point. All three times they have instantly called with hands ranging from A8 to A4 and lost in the first four hands… easy money!
If you bankroll is running a bit low or you need a little confidence booster start trying the heads up games. I know I’ve written about them before so check out the archives for more information, I just love this games, they are one of the easiest games on the internet (at least on stars). Good luck!
Now THIS is great gaming news! What do I do now?

Hmm… I never tried HU, it’s tempting, though. But I guess I’d better improve my basic skills and build my bank roll a bit more before I get into that pit.
