I’m back from a well needed break

Hey all! I forgot to mention as it was pretty spur of the moment that I was heading home this past weekend, and since I never can remember what my login and password are for the blog I couldn’t update. I did however play a few of those 180-person $22 tournaments this weekend to get my poker fix in between bowling, playing pool, and thawing out in the hottub. Overall it was a very well needed break, got some good sleep, good food, and could breath without exams haunting me over my shoulder.

Anywho, back to poker. One of my friends made his way to 4th place in one of the 180-person SNGs at pokerstars for a cool $288 and I was inspired once again to look into the tournament, I remember it having a softer-that-average field and wanted to try my shot at a cool $1000. Well before you get your hopes up I didn’t win any money, but I did double up on the first hand and I thought that was a good sign. I limped along with 6 other players with QJ of diamonds and the flop came down K 10 8, one player bet, I called. The turn was a 9, can you say nutttsssss?! He goes all-in…. for $1300 into a pot of $300. I guess I call here? He shows K10, misses his outs, then berates me, haha. I took it pretty lightly, said “good bet” and my table was broken up. I got down to 64th in that tournament when I reraised all in from the small blind with AKo and was called by KK, oops! Unfortunately like most MTTs this SNG only pays out the top .5% deciently. If you played two and only cashed in one, but got 12th, you would still be losing money, pretty crummy eh.

I decided not to make a seperate post about experiment #4 because tight-aggressive if how I usually play, and I could evaluate any of my SNG matches, but needless to say it has the best winrate, and tight aggressive is the way to play. I might post my standard SNG strategy sometime later, but as for the experiment, tight aggressive is the winning style, with loose passive the worst.

Good luck!
