Poker games, besides Texas Hold ‘em

What are some of your favorite poker games?

Yes I know that Texas Hold ‘em is the “Cadillac” of poker. but there are a lot of other games out there that deserve some love too. My personal favorite has always been Seven Card Stud. Maybe its just because it is the first poker I learned to play (except maybe five card draw, not quite sure). Its also the first one that friends and I started playing for money when we were kids. I didn’t really switch to playing hold ‘em the majority of the time until espn exploded onto the poker scene. I just think its a lot of fun and a great change of pace to have more cards out on the table and more betting rounds.

I’ve also always been a fan of the more ridiculous poker variants. A personal favorite has always been Midnight Baseball. If you don’t know this game, check out the rules here:

Oddly, I never knew it went by the name “no peak”

There was a guy in my old group of poker buddies who, whenever we played dealers choice, would always choose midnight baseball. I I guess he got a kind of perverse pleasure out of hearing everyone groan in disapproval every time. I on the other hand loved it.
