I have been playing less online poker of late at www.pokerstars.co.uk but this is something that I am going to correct this year. Regular followers of my blogs and my ramblings will know that I have been spending more and more time last year trading on the betting exchanges. This can be very difficult especially in the week where there is less mug money available. There is a far greater percentage of professional money on the exchanges in midweek and that constitutes a problem for any trader looking to try and make money.

However the more that I studied poker then the more that I was drawn to other areas like psychology and electronic trading! This then developed into an interest in game theory as well. So to really evolve as an online poker player means having in depth knowledge of other areas and it is important for any online poker player not to get bogged down by using strategies that are no longer working or to be stuck on sites and networks with very little liquidity and therefore action.

In my mind then players struggle to make money in online poker in several key areas. Firstly they are too eager to move up to higher levels and this isn’t always the Holy Grail that they think it is. Secondly many players in my opinion simply stay on the same site for far too long. This in my mind has a detrimental effect on a players earn rate. I think that there is a delicate balance between the value of your tracker data and player notes and the fact that other players are using the same data against you.

In my opinion then it becomes very important to be able to change sites or at least have the chance to do so and be able to move to sites with good player numbers. This serves two distinct functions, firstly it freshens up your operation by basically making redundant all of the notes that your opponents have on you. There is another way and that is to play on the site under another account name but that is neither ethical nor allowed by the sites rules and regulations. The second one is that it also allows you to take advantage of the sign up bonuses of other promising sites as well.

It is January and the travelling poker circus has just pulled into Melbourne Australia and that can only mean one thing – The Aussie Millions.

In 2009, during the festivities of the Aussie Millions, the Australian Poker Hall of Fame (APHOF) was launched, to laud praise on the poker players who have contributed in a special way to this great game of ours in Australia.

The APHOF already includes luminaries such as Joe Hachem, Jeff Lisandro and Mel Judah and joining that great bunch of players is David Gorr and Jason Gray. Gorr has been involved in the game for years and would be the first to admit his title of veteran is a suitable one. The Crown regular is best known for his amazing achievement at the 2011 Aussie Millions when he took down the event and $2 million in prize money. That win placed Gorr into fourth place in the all-time Australian money list. Fans of www.betfair.com will be keeping a close eye on things.

Gray, on the other hand, has amassed over $1.1 million in live tournament earnings. Included in this haul are victories at the $25k Victorian Championships held in 2007, a third place finish in the 2008 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Omaha Hi-Lo Split event and securing a runner-up spot at the Asian Poker Pacific (APPT) Sydney Grand Final the same year. Those looking at Betfair Free Poker will be impressed.

In order to qualify for the APHOF you must be a current or former resident of either Australia or New Zealand, demonstrated outstanding and extended service to the game bringing credit to Australian Casino Tournament Poker, and/or having displayed significant player excellence.

One of the old favourites in online poker is back with a bang this year and that is Pokerroom which was one of the most popular online card rooms a few years ago. I think as a ten year industry pro then it is important to have a selection of solid poker sites to play poker at. This is especially the case with cash poker games because if you are playing at serious levels then the regs at these levels will quickly get to know you and adjust. This is not good news for your earn rate because I have known many online pro’s whose earn rates have fallen the longer that they stayed on a certain site.

However I have played poker at Pokerroom before and so I know that the site has many interesting features including a very strong player base which ensures around 40,000 players are active at peak times. This is vital because most pro’s and semi-pro’s these days prefer to multi-table and you need to have very good player numbers to be able to do that. Game selection is another vital area for any serious player and to be able to game select well then you need vital lobby data. This means that you need that data to be clear and accessible which means an easy to read format. On Pokerroom then the average pot sizes, stack sizes, percentage of players seeing the flop and hands per hour are all clearly shown.

If you are playing no limit hold’em deep stack then a large part of your strategy is involved by picking and choosing your points of confrontation and so you need to know how deep your opponents are at all times. I don’t believe these days that an online poker player should place all their eggs into one basket with regards to where they play poker. In light of the Full Tilt Poker affair then I would never recommend to anyone that they put all their bankroll online. However in no way am I connecting Pokerroom with what happened at Full Tilt Poker. In nearly all cases then the sites that are on larger networks basically police themselves and are not dependent on the actions of a very tiny number of people.

It is a breath of fresh air to have new sites coming back into the online poker world and I for one will be using Pokerroom for sure. Although I still feel that in order to avoid the HUD using regs that you periodically need to freshen things up and this means only one thing and that is to change sites. The situation then arises that although you may have lost your player notes by moving sites, the players who you are playing against do not have any notes on your either. Although I am not sure how effective moving sites is for multi-tabling players but for any player who single tables then it is going to take your opponents quite a while to get a sample size on you.

The single table tournaments or sit and go tournaments as they are better known are spreading like the proverbial wildfire in online card rooms like www.pokerstars.co.uk and all over the net. Their rapid quick tempo means that the entire tournament is over in under an hour mostly. This super quick time frame appeals to many online poker players that do not have the time to commit several hours to playing the game and the much longer time frames that are required to play bigger tournaments.

“Crushing Online Single Table Tournaments” will be like putting you alongside a professional poker player as I decide on my next course of action and the correct strategy to use at every single stage of the tournament in our example tournaments played by me. What contributes to making these mini tournaments so popular is the avalanche of final table tournament action that is seen on television these days. When you sit down in a sit and go tournament then you are in effect already at that final table and the excitement and drama happens very quickly.

The criteria for the sit and go tournament that I will be explaining inside CRUSHING ONLINE SINGLE TABLE TOURNAMENTS will be a ten handed $200 + $15 tournament where the prize money is paid to the top three places. Just like in raked cash games, there is also a fee for playing in single table tournaments as well. This fee (sometimes referred to as the juice) is normally between 5% and 10% of the tournament buy in.

In the example above, the fee to play in the sit and go was $15 thus making the total expenditure $215. The ten lots of $15 that are paid by the participants goes to the card room for hosting the event and the players play for the remaining $2000 in prize money. In the example tournaments that I will be playing, the prize money is paid to the top three places as follows,

1st Place 50% 2nd Place 30% 3rd Place 20%

The blinds in the example tournaments will start at the 10-20 level and will increase every 10 hands until there is a winner. In our $200 + $15 example, this would mean the winner getting $1000, second place winning $600 and the third place finisher getting $400. These strategies will be effective in single table tournaments up to about the $200 level. Any higher than this and the players start to become a whole lot better and negate the effectiveness of the system somewhat simply because many more players are playing the same way.

I will quickly point out that even if you encounter other single table tournaments with slightly different criteria like different time limits, payment structure, number of players or buy in then this strategy will still be highly effective. So sit back and prepare to take a quantum leap forward in your knowledge in just how to beat SNG’s with CRUSHING ONLINE SINGLE TABLE TOURNAMENTS!

Don’t let fear or lack of knowledge stop you. You can play online casino games for money and enjoy the experience!

It’s probable that no casino game has captured the imagination and attention of people in the last decade more than poker (especially Texas Hold ‘Em). In the past 20 or 30 years, slots have become a favorite of thousands as well. Add to these two classic games the attraction of craps, baccarat and other games and you have some opportunities for a wonderful online experience.

One of the great things about online play in the past few years has been the excellent software and graphics offered by top virtual casinos. Of course, you can enjoy the wonderful technology used by Internet casinos without putting your own money at risk. But if you really want to have the complete experience you will need to put some of your own real money in play.

Fortunately for those who don’t have access to live casinos or prefer to gamble in the comfort of their homes, depositing and withdrawing funds is relatively easy and quite safe.

First and foremost, be sure you understand the laws in your country, state and community. In the United States, for example, banks cannot handle the deposit and withdrawal of money for online gambling. This isn’t true in many places around the world. U.S. players cannot use credit cards or PayPal, or many other methods.

If this isn’t a problem for you because you live in a place where it’s legal to play online casino games for money, you should do a couple of things before actually putting money into play. Learn about bankroll and gambling money. These should be separate from money you need for rent, food and living expenses. *This is essential for a great online gaming experience!

Make sure you know how much money you will need to participate in a session of online gaming or for a week, month etc. Players who sit down at Texas Hold ‘Em have a definite amount ready for a particular level of play, as an example. You should do this for any casino game. Know how much you want to bet each time at the roulette wheel, craps or slot machine.

When you want to play online casino games for money, be prepared. You’ll enjoy the game and will give yourself a much better chance of winning.
