Ask most people what poker, or for that matter, card games are all about, and most of them will tell you it’s all about bluffing. The trouble with bluffing though is that it is very difficult to repeatedly pull off and it is high risk.

On the other hand ask any poker player or those looking at Blackberry casinos what creates the biggest adrenaline rush at the tables and most, if not all will reply with an anecdote about how they managed to pull off a huge bluff. There is more to the bluff than first meets the eye though. It is almost never a random play forced through out of a macho sense of bravado (these bluffs tend to be the unsuccessful ones).

A bluff, when done properly, is actually not as risky as most people would assume. There are factors which you can use to your advantage to increase the chances of your bluff being successful.

To state the obvious, the best time to bluff is when you believe the entire table has weak hands. Position is important when considering a bluff. If you are under the gun (first to act after the blinds) then it is generally not considered a good move to bluff.

There are too many players who are yet to act; therefore you have no information on them. Therefore a later position will more often be a better one to try a bluff. But be warned; as this is common poker strategy, players may see straight through your play and your bluff might be snuffed out.

The style of the players on your table should factor into your attempted bluff. A tight player who has played a small number of pots will be easier to bluff than a player who is loose and free with his chips. But if you attempt a bluff on a tighter player and they come back at you with a re-raise, you can be fairly sure that they have you beat. Or that they are good enough to have picked up on your bluff.

For a bluff to be successful, you need to have picked up a good read on your opponent’s range of hands. If you have no idea what you are facing, a bluff is virtually impossible, but if you are confident that you can narrow down your opponent’s hand then you are in with a shot.

There are some mistakes that lots of amateur/beginner poker players carry out which can easily be avoided.

Most starting players, even those at Mansion Casino Online, will play too many hands because they want to be involved in the game – and that’s perfectly understandable. The thing about this is that it will cost you a lot of money at a time in your game where you are at most risk from more experienced players.

By playing too many hands you open yourself up to take a battering from better players. You must know that the majority of starting hands will need to be folded. It doesn’t sound like much fun, but it will stop you losing your whole bankroll in an evening.

Tilt is the mother of all poker mistakes as it can only lead to one thing; losing a wad of cash. The desperation of trying to recoup the losses of the day by either playing more aggressively or at a higher level where you are inexperienced is a major problem for so many poker players.

A lack of patience is a problem on so many levels because ultimately, poker is about patience. So, if you don’t have the necessary patience for poker, I would go so far as to say don’t even bother with it. Try a different game!

Twinned with a lack of patience is a lack of concentration. Without the ability to concentrate fully on the game, you may as well be handing chips to your opponents. It is issues like these which you can control, so make sure you control them well.

There are some more strategic mistakes that lots of amateurs, perhaps focusing on Online Slots and Other Casino Games, make. Over betting/under betting the pot are mistakes that will only be solved once you have understood pot odds (if you don’t, spend some time researching the basic theory either online or in any of the major poker books).

Amateurs will often fall in love with pretty hands and not be able to let go of them, no matter what the flop is. You must learn to adapt your play to the situation – even those aces might not be worth a huge call on the flop when it’s obvious someone has the flush. Being able to fold monsters is a skill even some more advanced players cannot master.

Thanks to New Jersey’s democratic senator, Raymond Lesniak, there is good news for everyone who loves to play poker.

Raymond Lesniak plans on introducing a bill, which will make it legal for casinos in the state to provide their customers with the facility to play poker online for money.

According to PlayPokerOnline.com, this legislation would make sure that it covers the problem areas of a similar bill introduced last year. The previous bill introduced in 2010 was ultimately vetoed by Governor Chris Christie in March 2011.

Lesniak says that Governor Christie vetoed the 2010 poker bill, as he was apprehensive about the fact that profits from online poker may go to horse racing as well. He was also concerned that the bill may lead to opening of numerous internet cafes in the state. To counter these drawbacks, Lesniak has ensured that his new bill forbids both these activities. Lesniak has even reached out to the U.S Attorney General, Eric Holder, by writing him a letter that emphasizes on the fact that it is up to the state governments to decide whether they want online gambling to be legalized within their own borders.

However, not all senators are in sync with the views expressed by Lesniak in his letter to the U.S Attorney General. Senator Harry Reid, who is a democratic senator from Nevada, and republican senator from Arizona, Jon Kyl, both have been on the other side of this debate. Both of them firmly believe that if states were to legalize real money poker and online gambling then they would be going against the U.S Wire Act of 1961.

It has been estimated by a trade association for offshore casinos that if this bill were to be passed and online poker legalized in NJ, then casinos in Atlantic City could generate as much as $250 million dollars in revenue. This amount would include almost $55 million in taxes.

Money is not the only benefit, it is also expected that this move might end up creating more than 2000 new employment opportunities.

Even if you’re new to the world of poker, you’ll soon start noticing how players interact with each other whilst they are playing and will undoubtedly discover the chat facility that’s available on each site. Be aware of how they conduct themselves, even on paypal poker sites.

Unfortunately, some players use this facility to abuse other players and start writing detrimental things about the way they are playing. This generally happens when they’re on a losing streak or you’ve played a particularly good hand but it can unnerve you.

Try not to get involved in this if you possibly can as it is likely to make you lose concentration and will adversely affect the way you play. Poker is a gentleman’s game and you must try to behave in a gentlemanly fashion at all times.

You’ll probably find that it will help your game and the way you play if you can actually compliment someone if they have played a good hand and ignore the abuse that may be targeted at you. It really will benefit you in the long term to ignore the insults and remember to play compliments. Think of how you would act at a WSOPE Tournament.

One thing you must always remember and never forget is that you will sometimes have a winning streak and at other times you’ll have a losing streak. You must have a strategy in place to cope with the losing streak and not break away from it.

If you continue sitting at the table and carry on playing in the hope that you will recoup the money that you have lost, you’re more likely to lose more money than regain it.

Psychologically, you’ll be playing out of desperation and are more likely to be making mistakes. Stop, cash in your remaining chips, and leave the table. Next time, your luck may be completely different.

In most sports it is recognised that a professional warm up is an integral part of their activity. If a professional soccer player were to run onto the pitch without warming up then their muscles wouldn’t be ready. This is where injuries occur and injuries can put you out of action for a very long time. Remember this for your next Texas Holdem Tournaments.

In poker preparation or warm up is equally as important. To help you digest this think of your brain as a muscle like the hamstring. In soccer pulling your hamstring is very painful and can take weeks or even months to heal. In order to avoid hamstring injuries players stretch those muscles to make sure they are ready when the time comes to play. As a poker player you too can make sure your brain is ready to play. Do not play when you are tired, stressed or emotionally affected by something. If you are ready to rock n roll then try some brain training type games beforehand. If that is not your thing then try easing yourself into the game slowly. If you are a six tabler then play one or two for the first part of your session and incrementally add tables as your brain starts to increase its awareness. This is how players prepare for the world series of poker europe.

Another great way to prepare for your session is to review your mistakes and also recite personal affirmations. If you don’t have any affirmations then spend some time thinking before creating some. If you don’t have any mistakes then what the hell are you doing reading this?
